Mold Inspection & Remediation

Health Risks of Indoor Mold and Exposure

Indoor mold exposure can cause a variety of health effects and symptoms, including allergic reactions. As long as moisture and oxygen are present, molds can grow on virtually any organic substance, including: Wood, Paper, Carpet, Foods, Drywall and Insulation. Excessive moisture that accumulates in homes and business buildings can cause mold growth to occur if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed. It is impossible to eliminate all molds and mold spores in the indoor environment but mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling moisture indoors.

Molds reproduce by making microscopic spores that float through the indoor and outdoor air continually. When mold spores land on a damp spot indoors, they may begin growing and eating whatever they are growing on and gradually destroy the things they grow on.

Many types of molds exist and have the potential to cause health effects. Molds can produce allergens that can trigger asthma attacks or allergic reactions in people with respiratory problems or allergic to mold. Others are known to produce potent toxins and irritants. Potential health concerns are an important reason to prevent mold growth and to remediate or clean up any existing indoor mold growth.

The health risks associated with mold are truly alarming. The Federal Government would classify mold as an epidemic due to the vastness and severity of illnesses.

Some symptoms associated with toxic mold exposure include: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Stress, Drug abuse, Immaturity, Forgetfulness, Panic Attacks, Trouble learning, poor memory, depression, anxiety, mood swings, abnormal reflexes, poor organization, disorientation, Manic Depression, Seizures, Strokes and Multiple Sclerosis. All of these are serious and some even deadly.
